The East Cheshires Charity Concert is this week. East Cheshire Celebrates it's 100th!

Celebrations were held at the annual dinner dance at the Hunting Lodge, Adlington. Our social secretary Laura, put on a fabulous 'do' and all celebrated our 100th in style. Congratulations to our President's lovely lady, Mrs P Holleran, on the Chairmans' award for services to the society, we are only sorry she and Joe couldn't be with us.

What a success this show has been. Kevin Rawcliffe, NODA North West Regional Councillor said "I must say what a fantastic cast and company you have and the audience loved every minute of such a professional show and a well deserved standing ovation of which I was proud to be a part of." "The East Cheshires in Concert" has been a fabulous success - we had a sell out show at the Alderley Assembly Rooms and the evening's of the 10th, 11th and 12th of December were enjoyed by all. Thank you to our audiences, to our performers and to our special guests. Thanks also to all the organisers, including Mark and Laura for organising the bar, and mince pies! And finally our special thanks to Eileen for directing another wonderful event. With everyone's generosity we will be able to make a considerable donation to St. Ann's Hospice.

The East Cheshires' 100th annual general meeting took place in October, and was well attended which is a great sign for the next century! While there we were proud for Eileen Jackson to present a cheque for our third year to St. Ann's Hospice for £500, raised from our 2008 Christmas Concert (thanks to all who were involved, especially Eileen). This year's concert takes place 10th, 11th, 12th December and will be a fabulous night's entertainment as well as hopefully raising more for our worthy selected charity.

We were delighted to have been nominated for best musical at the NODA awards for our 2008 production of "The Pirates Of Penzance", but congratulations go to Birkenhead Operatic Society for their win with "Scarlett Pimpernel". Check out all the winners.

Anything Goes was a great success and we've some wonderful comments from some of those who came to visit... it's a shame we couldn't sell out, but still the week was enjoyed by everyone. So to celebrate, it's our annual bash - East Cheshire's dinner dance at Adlington Hall on Friday 22nd May. The donation from our concert in December was handed over to St. Ann's at a cheque presentation on Sunday's rehearsal, which was lovely for all involved. “Anything Goes” is a 1930’s musical comedy set on board the luxury liner the “SS American”. A lively assortment of characters including Reno Sweeney (ex-evangelist turned night club singer) and Moonface Martin (Public Enemy number 13!)
entertain you on this transatlantic voyage. With some of Cole Porter’s most memorable tunes including “You’re the Top”, “It’s Friendship” and “I get a kick out of you”, a fun script by PG Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and spectacular tap numbers inc. “Anything Goes", this show will certainly provide a fun evening’s entertainment.

The East Cheshires Concert was staged last week and it was a great success - our audiences truly enjoyed the evening's entertainment. Not only that we made a profit and look forward to making St. Ann's Hospice a donation very soon. For those who didn't attend you should have been there - from opera to musical comedy with some seasonal compositions thrown in. If you were there, thank you for your support.

Again our thanks to all those lovely people who made this possible. To those from the East Cheshires with whom we couldn't have stage the concert - Eileen (of course); Sue, Sally, Mark and Laura for a fantastic job organising the bar and raffle; our President (Joe)and Chairman(Tony) who both did a splendid job as bartenders; Judith for some lovely decorations; Chris for his help; and to other friends Emily, Anna, Elaine and John - thanks.
